First, a hearty happy new year to everyone! Here's to a great 2010.
Second, I have a few ideas of how I might keep the blog alive without robbing from the luster of the 2009 project. But before I decide on how to proceed, I'd like to hear from you. Send me thoughts, ideas, concepts, challenges, etc. and I'll figure something out in the next few days. Note that I will not be rolling the old dice, nor will I be taking on daily writing (I have other, longer writing projects to keep my days busy). I look forward to hearing your suggestions.

Darn. I was thinking you could write one whole longish story, but in daily segments based on the roll of the dice. It would be interesting to see what kind of story could be woven in approximately 18,000 over 365. But your whole "no more dice" thing aced that.

ReplyDelete1. Encourage others to create a blog of short fiction. Perhaps less rigorous than yours.
2. Longer fiction, essays, poetry.
3. Selections from longer works in progress for review and comment.
4. Add links to other, similar blogs. (Such as mine)
5. Teasers to longer works perhaps located on another website or blog.
6. Short pieces whose length is not determined by dice or a random number generator.
Looking forward to see where your blog will take you and us.
Mossum: I didn't say I wouldn't roll *any* dice, just not the old ones (meaning the two 8-sided ones I used all year). To that end, one idea I have is to do a story each week, rolling three 6-sided dice or something. I just don't want it to feel too much like last year, and I don't have it in me to write every day (or at least to be held to it officially). Maybe a longer piece, with weekly installments not to exceed some-number-or-other?
